Massage therapy involves the therapeutic manipulation of the soft tissues of the body such as muscles, tendons, ligaments and connective tissue. Registered or licensed massage therapists have significant training in the manipulation of these types of tissues. At our clinic, we offer massage therapy only by a registered massage therapist to ensure that you receive the highest standard of care.
Massages have mechanical effects on tissues that can help to reduce tension and promote relaxation. They can also trigger systemic or whole body responses that produce an overall feeling of relaxation. This relaxation response is thought to occur as a result of the release of endorphins and the reduction of stress hormones in the body.
When you arrive at our clinic for your first massage therapy session, we will collect some basic information from you to start your file. If you have insurance, we will go over the details of your massage coverage. We will then ask you to fill out an intake form that covers basic medical history and details about any areas of pain or discomfort. Any information that you share with your massage therapist is confidential.
Once this has been completed you will be taken to your private massage therapy room. Your massage therapist will then go over your intake form and discuss your treatment or back pain treatment with you. Your therapist will leave the room so that you are able change and will re-enter when you are ready for your hands on massage treatment to begin.
Throughout your massage treatment, your therapist will check with you to make sure that you are comfortable with the pressure and positioning. If you have any discomfort at any time during your massage, please be sure to let your massage therapist know.
Our massage therapists are registered members of the Massage Therapy Association of Manitoba (MTAM) and have completed 2200+ hours of schooling from an MATM accredited program!
